On the contrary, rescue organisations and shelters have the animals' (and potential owners') best interests at heart, and will perform thorough checks to ensure that animals are placed in safe hands and will be suited to potential owners.

Answer: Microchipping your animal gives you peace of mind in the event that your animal should go missing, and it will greatly increase the chances of you being reunited with your beloved pet.
