Ruby was once someone’s pet cat. When we found her she had been abandoned and was surviving in an area of wasteland full of broken glass, metal and rubbish, next to a busy road. Ruby had three six-month-old kittens: Poppy, Daisy Junior and Timmy (see Photo Gallery). Ruby was heavily pregnant (again) and painfully thin and unkempt as all her energy was being used to nurture her kittens (both born and unborn).

We humanely trapped Ruby, Poppy, Daisy Junior and Timmy, although the kittens were already quite feral, and temporary places were secured at local sanctuaries for all four cats. Two weeks later Ruby gave birth to Tabitha, Georgie and Jasmine (see Photo Gallery). Six months later all seven cats were in good health and had been neutered, microchipped and placed in loving homes. Although this story has a happy ending, many animals are not so lucky.
