The Sanctuary Angels provide financial and practical support, resources and networking to organisations and individuals directly involved in animal rescue, welfare, and neutering. They also seek to educate people about responsible pet ownership and animal rescue/adoption, and actively promote the humane treatment of all animals through cruelty-free living. They network on behalf of individuals and their pets and on behalf of animal rescue groups/individuals and provide assistance and advice where possible (for example, regarding cheap or free neutering/microchipping). Please note that we are not an animal shelter and we do not take in animals or wildlife but we can assist people in locating help in their local area.
• To provide financial and practical assistance to selected UK and overseas rescue groups and sanctuaries; we support two UK sanctuaries financially through the year (Tower Hill Stables in Essex, and The Algernon Trust in Whittlebury) in addition to providing ad hoc support for various other rescuers, both UK-based and overseas. The Angels receive no government funding but rely entirely on money raised through street collections, donations and the sale of merchandise.
• To promote the adoption of unwanted and abandoned animals from sanctuaries/shelters and educate people about the consequences of the commercial breeding of companion animals.
• To promote neutering, microchipping and responsible pet ownership, and provide support, help and advice to those needing it. We often work with the Cats Protection both to assist individuals in the community with their pets but also to humanely trap and neuter local feral cat colonies. We seek to provide support to individuals needing help with an abandoned or abused animal or with their pet animals.
• To actively promote the humane treatment of all animals through cruelty-free living/veganism and educate the public about all forms of animal abuse and how they can avoid it.
